Executive Coaching – is a Key Development Tool

As an Executive Coaching Company you might expect us to promote executive coaching as a key development tool. However the latest CIPD Learning and Talent Development Survey finds that executive coaching is regarded by organisations as one of the most effective development tools. For leaders and senior managers, the 585 respondent organisations, felt that external executive coaches provided the most effective development. Whereas for middle management the respondents felt that internal coaching was the best way to build capability.

Those involved in the survey identified that the biggest gaps in leadership skills were related to performance management, leading and managing change. It comes as no surprise therefore that the main topics arising in executive coaching were identified as supporting performance management and to prepare and support people in leadership roles.

Looking ahead over a two year period the survey identified that the major change affecting Learning and Development is a greater integration between executive coaching, organisational development and performance management to drive organisational change.
